Day 1: Arrival-Yangon – Golden Rock

Upon arrival to Yangon International Airport, our tour guide will welcome and bring the guests to the private air-con coach to proceed to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda (Golden Rock).

Upon arriving to the base camp of the pagoda, proceed to go up the top of the mountain with the local open top truck(45 Minutes Approx) where you will be dropped off at the pagoda to travel the final distance by walk. There, after worship at the pagoda, you can enjoy the surrounding nature of Kyiakhtiyo Mountain, visit local souvenir shops of local food, clothing, handy crafts, herbal shops, religious material shops and so on.   .

There are only a few hotels at the top of Mount Kyaiktiyo, so upon the availability of the hotel at many people stay in the ‘base camp’ village of Kinpun, where good accommodations available, and also have a lively atmosphere and a good range of places to eat.  If you are staying in Kinpun, it makes most sense to arrive in the late afternoon or evening, and then ascend the mountain the following morning.

Day 2 : Golden Rock – Mawlamyine

Start with a morning visit to the Mawlamyine bustling colorful Zeigyi (central market). Wander through the dozens of stalls where local vendors come to buy and sell their wares. Continue through the downtown streets stopping to visit the colonial buildings, mosque and other landmarks of the city.  The last stop this morning is at Holy Family Cathedral.  Built during the colonial era, this church has a beautiful interior rarely seen by tourists.  Nearby is Judson’s Church which was built in 1827 by Dr. Judson who translated the Bible into Burmese.

After lunch and a rest at the hotel, head to the eastern mountains to visit Kyaik Thanlan Pagoda, the city’s landmark. Built in 875 AD, it enshrines the Tripitaka Buddhist manuscripts as well as a hair relic from the Buddha. The 40 meter high stupa is located on a hill surrounded by 34 smaller Zediyan pagodas. From up here one can enjoy panoramic views over the city and harbor.  It is also thought to be the site where Rudyard Kipling wrote his famous poem, Mandalay.

Next, you will visit the ancient Queen Sein Don Monastery (locally known as Yadana Bonmyint Monastery).  This Monastery is more as 100 years old and is famous for its intricate woodcarving and Burmese crafts inside. It was founded by Queen Sein Tone who had to flee Mandalay at the time that Myanmar’s last monarch, King Thibaw Min, took power. She became home sick and asked the local carpenters to build a monastery in the replica style of her former palace.

As today draws to a close, proceed to U Zina Pagoda to enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Overnight in Mawlamyaing

Day 3 : Mawlamyine – Bago - Yangon

Depart from Hotel , early this morning for a journey by road to Bago .

En route, stop in Bago, the capital of the 6th century Mon kingdom.

The visit in Bago begins at Shwethalyaung Temple which houses a beautiful 55-meter long reclining Buddha. Continue to the Mon-style Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the most venerated in Myanmar and whose 114 meter spire is taller than the one at Shwedagon Pagoda. Before departing Bago, visit the well-restored former palace, Kambozathadi, which was the marvel of Asia when it was originally built in the 16th century. On the way back to Yangon, visit the Allied War Cemetery near Htaukkyan, the final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers.

Day 4 : Yangon – Departure

Start to visit to the historic Shwedagon Pagoda – one of the wonders of the world, towering almost 100m above the city-scape, believed to have been built over 2500 yrs ago.

And then visit to Bogyoke Market (Formerly Scott’s), you can find all the souvenir items you were searching for. It is closed on Monday.

After that, we will proceed to Yangon international airport for your departure flight.
