Twante Township is a township located west across the Hlaing River from the city of Yangon. The longest man made canal in Myanmar is Twante canal and it is also a shortcut waterway to Ayawaddy river to Yangon river which divides Twante Township with its length of 35 km. Twante Township is well known for its pottery activities handled by a few families since several generations. It is also area of fish farming in Yangon region

Day 1

Our tour guide will welcome and bring the guests to Twante by private air-con vehicle. Upon arrival to Twante, visit to a small bamboo hut village specialized in traditional pottery. Then, continue by horse and carriage “for a morning sightseeing of Twante including the local market, a ceramics making area where more then twenty family workshops produce ceramic pots using centuries old methods.  Also visit the pottery market from where the pots are shipped to Yangon. Return back to Yangon by boat (1h30mn)  enjoying the scenery along the river where boats are being loaded with local goods, women are washing clothes and children are playing by the riverside. Back in Yangon and the tour continues in the afternoon with some free time for shopping at the huge Bogyoke Market, formerly known as Scott’s market, offering a wide selection of Myanmar handicrafts and souvenirs.  Then, finish the day with a walk in colourful Chinatown and visit Yangon’s oldest Chinese temple: the Kheng Hock Keong.
